Woke up around ten thirty with a dreadful hangover. Promptly went back to sleep again to wake up again at one o’clock with the same dreadful hangover. Immediately went in for a swim. It helped freshen me up but, I have felt dreadful all day. No more Ouzo for me.

I drove into town to collect the tyre, also to see Bob, the Yank. He was out but I’ll drop a line to his home address which he gave me. I think it is a good thing to have friends everywhere you can. The drive in was pleasant and I got back to camp without skidding off the road.

The afternoon was spent in exploring the various ruins and different places which we had not yet managed to see. An interesting enough afternoon, but nothing special.

We returned at around seven and had a meal in the local café. I helped the owner by writing a letter in English for him. We sat there for a while conversing before turning in.

Tomorrow we uproot and go on to Patras, thence by boat to Italy on Thursday. It is not a long drive but should be & interesting enough driving along the Gulf of Corinth.

So, we leave Athens a little disappointed in some respects, but happy in others. Next time I come I shall know the city better – we are getting the feel of it now. Also, I hope to have more money – hope! As I have said before and make no apology for repeating it – the Acropolis alone was worth the trip. Goodnight.
